I loved you so much, but I had to let go.
Let go of you, of us.
That love did not seem right.
Or was it just a game and a fuss?
That feeling was so innocent and deep,
was the first time that my heart learned to beat.
I loved you with all my soul,
with our memories still stuck in my bones.
But, still, I had to let go of you.
you became empty out of the blue.
Suffered and cried in silence,
life stopped existing because of your indifference.
I had to let go of you first,
hoping that would hurt less but it was the worst.
Unspoken feelings drift with the wind,
my heart still wants you, though it’s a sin.
I said I didn’t want to see you anymore, but it was a lie,
in shaking hands and tears, I said goodbye.
Your feelings were buried in a dark cave,
no one but you could save the love we crave.
One day you remembered me, but it was too late,
the love still lingered, but someone else took your place.
You wished me a happy birthday but on the wrong date,
that spoke volumes, and now it all makes sense.
My tears flowed like a river, love in one night can’t disappear,
Your words were your pride, and they rang so clear.
I had to let you go to shield my heart,
Hiding my feelings where they could never start.
I hid them on the farthest shelf,
But let’s be real—
First love will always reappear…

The pain of every loss is great, but forgiveness is powerful.

This is poignant and true to life so people relate!!
Such an emotional and raw piece. The pain and depth of love are felt in every line. The line "First love will always reappear..." is especially powerful—such a poignant way to wrap it up. Excellent work! ✨
A deeply down to earth and emotional poem.
so achingly beautiful
