I left Saint Louis

Play it again Sam

By Franklyn WyldePublished about a year ago 1 min read

Fantasy and reality

Dance on a razors edge of sanity

Bobbing back-and-forth too, and fro

as they do their tango

And there’s a rose between my teeth

With thorns wrapped around my heart

Passing as we meet

Tearing as we part

Comedy and tragedy

Are just two words for calamity

An night ending in tears

Can Grow funny through the years

Those tears in my eyes

Changed from pain to laughter

A Heart isn’t stone

It’s more like those masks of plaster

Posters on the wall

Change to prints then portraits

Memories remain the same

It’s just the frames that switch

Fantasy and reality

Are just comedy and tragedy

A coin flipping in the hands

Fated to never land

And there’s a rose between my teeth

And those tears in my eyes

Passing as we meet

Time changes how we cry

Comedy and tragedy

Are just two words for calamity

Dancing through the years

Shedding different tears

Those thorns that tore my heart

Grew into a garden

We’ve never really been apart

Even though we parted
