I Know You're There

I Know You're There

By ElliePublished 10 months ago 1 min read

I know I was wrong, I turned away,

You called my name, but I chose to stray.

You whispered love, soft and true,

But I shut my heart and ignored You.

I know I hurt You, made You sigh,

Yet, why did You stop passing by?

Why does the silence stretch so wide,

Like waves retreating with the tide?

I feel the darkness closing in,

Everything’s tangled, lost within.

But when no one asks if I’m okay,

I know You’re there, You never stray.

At every road, in every fall,

You were whispering, standing tall.

"Hey, I'm here, you’re not alone,"

But I was deaf to the love You’d shown.

Why did I chase a love untrue,

When You were always shining through?

Why did I long for fleeting hands,

Ignoring Yours, the One that stands?

I want to love You, hold You near,

Please forgive me, dry this tear.

I long for peace, I long for You,

No more sorrow, no more blue.

Make me kind, make me whole,

Heal my heart, soothe my soul.

No more crying, no more pain,

With You, my God, I’ll rise again.
