You think good men can't do bad things

But I know they lie and steal and cheat.

You think a strong man cannot break,

But I have seen him weep.

You think an honest man cannot lie

But I know his darkest secrets.

You think the happy do not cry,

But they do…You just don't see it.

You think a winner cannot lose,

But I know all his doubts.

You think the silent do not scream

But I hear his inner shouts.

I know these things because I am them

And each of them is me

I think it's time I opened up

And finally let you see

That though we cover up our scars

And pretend that they aren't here,

I know they make us who we are

And help to ease our fears.
