I knew it was love

...like I breathed life into something

The first time I wrote a story

I wanted to rewrite a story I just read

I knew I could give it a better ending

And when I was finished

It was like I breathed life into something

Powerful, exhilarating, beautiful

The first time I wrote poetry

I just needed to explain how angry I was

I just needed to vent

Soon all my emotions became stanzas

With rhymes, alliteration, irony, and sarcasm

The first time I wrote an article

I was so nervous. It had to be perfect

I was given a mission, a responsibility

To put my thoughts to paper

To explain my logic, my reasoning

And hopefully, convince a few people

I feel like I have known all my life

Like I will forever be writing

Till my last day on earth

It is and will always be my one true love

My soulmate that breathes life in my bones

And I thank God for it

love poems
