I Haunt Your House
A Poem
In seance, you lit your candles,
but you're the only light I see.
You are my lantern, a burning bulb in a freezing house. I tremble
my chains in your attic. I grip your hair
in the shower, whisper your name.
My heart is a shark and there's blood
in your water. You gasp
at my touch, bumps along your skin erect. I moan
in the halls
while you sleep. I am the shape in your sheets,
the cold spot in your corner.
I may haunt your house, but it's you
who possesses me, my light,
my lantern
guiding me back
to a semblance of life.
