I Hated The Mirror, Until I Became An Ecologist

A journey to self-love through nature.

By Hannah HessPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

I found beauty in myself,

as I explored the world around me.

Eyes like green and brown-flecked soil,

stretch marks like water catching sunlight.

Curves, valleys, scars—

echoes in stone, shaped by time.

My laugh like rolling thunder,

wild, untamed.

Weathered, ever-changing—

I am beautiful.

A landscape worthy of love.

Fantastic, inspired work - such a clever and profound way of affirming self-love. The wonders of nature are a fantastic mirror for the beauty and complexity of human bodies, and this poem captures that relationship magnificently. Well done on this entry!
