I wrote this poem to both express my emotions about him but also to honor his memory. He passed away six years ago, and not a day goes by that I don't think about him.

I hate my dad;

His anger, his judgment.

I love my dad;

His laughter, his morals.

I hate my dad;

His abuse, his violence.

I love my dad;

His perspective, his silence.

I hate my dad;

His control, his cheating.

I love my dad;

His smile, that is fleeting.

I hate my dad;

His lies, his deceit.

I love my dad;

His charity, to get someone on their feet.

I hate my dad;

His death, his absence.

I love my dad;

His rebirth and his peaceful essence.

I hate my dad;

His sins, his crime.

I love my dad;

His atonement, until the end of time.
