I fell. On my head.
And I know I’ll fall again.
Hopefully with more grace this time.
My daughter does gymnastics for 4 hours a week. She skipped two levels this year and is in a group with older girls.
I’m in awe of her resilience. Her growth mindset. Her lack of give-up. For a 7 year old, she pushes hard and never stops. Even if she falls.
She jumps right back up, wipes away the tears, and tries it again.
She fails forward.
When I first started yoga, I remember trying a twist in a high lunge.
I wobbled and wiggled and just didn’t have the core strength to stabilize myself.
A while later, attempting a headstand, I flipped over and thought I’d broken a finger.
Now, working on handstands, my left hand started shaking, and I fell on my head.
Oops 😬
But I won’t give up, damnit.
In our house, “I can’t” doesn’t exist - unless you end it with, “yet!” A growth mindset is required.
Do we fail? Oh yes. And we fail often. And we fail forward.
Whatever your challenge is that you’re facing - mentally, physically, spiritually - whether it’s standing on your head or finding stability in tree pose — (so to speak), you can do it, sweet friend.
And you will.
I’ll be here offering cushy, loving support, A hug when you need it, and a hand to pull you back up when you fall.
This week, we’re going to focus on our balance and core strength. The kind of balance that we can take off the mat. The kind that offers a resilience and an “I can’t do it - yet. But I WILL” - mindset. Growth.
For beginners. To meet you where you’re at with lots of room to grow.
See you on the mat. 🙏
