I Don't Believe One Word
A poem on Lying in Relationships
I tried
I allowed my ears the space to listen to her cries
As she told me of nights she wanted to be home, but work kept her busy
The office really was her entire life
Or was it the moonlit skies she said she admired, while driving to the club
She danced at home a lot with me, then took her talents to other dudes
While DJs pumped her up...with alcohol
I guess I'm not enough
//
I knew someone who was a professional bouncer
Long story short, they found her
Hugged up at the bar, with a bottle to satisfy her wild side
When she came home this particular night
She thought I had no clue
Sorry...honey
These photos my friend sent me don't copy what isn't true
Oh no I still love you
I love you and I enough to let you do what you love to do
But I am through
//
My nights of waiting in anticipation turned to sad dreams
You screamed at your boss on the phone once, and I tried to calm you down
That same night I found you texting "people from work"
Now I feel like a jerk, because you had me in belief of what seemed genuine
You don't authentically love me enough
You'd rather rough it out in the streets
So please...
Enjoy yourself while you can
But you can have a great time with another man
I'm can't stick around for this
