I Cried By the Riverside

When you cry outdoors, The Universe could feel the pain...

I wept but the emotions stayed nearby...

I wailed but the pain didn't stop...
When will it all just fall?...
Like water down the stream...

My first heartbreak and I was wishing

it was just a Dream...

Sometimes I can only feel serenity,

When I Sing...

I wish Heartbreak felt like a melody...

I tossed a coin and hoped for Better!

I'm crying next to the Riverside,

Because there is more water than the teardrops falling from my eyes...

Something uncomfortable can teach you comfort...

So I wipe my eyes and realized, that life could be much worse or it could exist Better...

But foremost Hold your head up High and then you decide!

However, Before the moment is over,

Dear Journal,

I cried beside the Riverside.

Lonzo, omg! You evoke such emotions with your gorgeous poems. Those last two lines...such melancholy, but I'm also in love. 😍

  • It's nice to sometimes share real emotions in our writings, because that actually expresses life.

Moving and heartfelt. Perfect picture to go with the poem. I love how you’ve picked out that it is we who decide. Well done, Lonzo 💕🙂

This is sublime, Lonzo! So much emotion and wisdom in such few words. Love it!

  • Gosh, this was so emotional!

  • loved this

  • My fingers are snapping all over the place. My heart broke, cried, and healed from the beginning to the end. Thanks for sharing your art.

  • Sometimes even singing doesn't help. And then the voice trails off & all becomes silent. Another beautiful, heart-wrenching poem, Lonzo. I do have one quick question. I understand that you weave quite smoothly back & forth between using present tense & past. But did you intend to do so quite so suddenly where you say, "So I wipe my eyes and realized..."? It's a little jarring, which may have been your intent, to jar us from the moment of tears to that of resolve. I just wanted to check.

And your tears joined with so many others! You look very young Lonzo, but your wisdom makes me wonder if you aren't actually Methuselah or maybe Tiresias. This line stuns me: 'Something uncomfortable can teach you comfort...' I hope the pain you feel carries you to well-deserved happiness!
