can’t talk right

Now

Gotta busy line

My hands are stuck in my pockets

I don’t have pockets

I can’t talk right now

Please be patient

All who can’t hear my voice,

Know it’s stuck in the transit line

An imaginary line, tick-tock, buzz, tick-tick-tick.

I’ll keep driving out my voice by my loud loud laughter that is way too loud,

Like a church organ banging keys in your ear.

Can’t talk now

Leave me a message

At the beep.

I’m saving up my voice for a minute, another time

Please be patient, it’s not you,

I’m saving it for a rainy day.

All the noise in the world can’t cancel

The idea,

Comforting like a painful day-dream, felt in my pulsing throat

The idea that noise can cancel out the drowning buzz of that ticking time bomb

That doesn’t even work right, or even really explode.

I don’t work right, but I can’t tell you that

Leave me a message

At the non-existent beep.
