I Am The World

Mixed Up Mixed Race Finding Strength

By Misty RaePublished about a year ago 1 min read

Sitting here, the stillness of the night deafens me,

I hear that familiar voice on the night breeze,

Little ugly girl, ain't Black, ain't white. No place to call home.

Evading challenge, ignoring opportunity, terrified, ostracized.

Not good enough. Never good enough. Not even close. An inferior child from inferior stock. Regrettable. A mistake.

Clouds over my head. The mark of shame precedes me. I feel its weight.

Except, I'm wrong. I'm the best of it all. Black & white together. I am THE WORLD.

I can relate to you, I used to feel like this too. Love that you made all this into a challenge entry!😊
