I am the genie of the lamp

Shall I grant you three wishes?

By Novel AllenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

The Lamp sat teasingly upon the shelf

In it's very nature, quietly inviting an affable touch

Come it beckoned, come caress me

Fondly embrace my lovely shiny exterior

Come closer; closer yet. Hear my distant whispers

A symbol of perfection and exquisite taste am I

Refinement and sophistication oozed teasingly

From the delicate perceived beauty of it's form

It's gossamer, yet slightly flawed outer layer

Invited long ago stories of genies and secret wishes

Stories heard with wide-eyed fascination and wonder

With wishful, wistful yearnings for a tiny bit of truth

Within the unknown depths which houses a genie

A hint of gold shone from its graceful form

Elegance and poise exuded from undisclosed magical places

The mind soars to preternatural mystical abodes and realms

Where carpets fly and castles spire supernaturally high

I see your dare lamp, and raise you three wishes to be granted

Thou mystical, spectral, wraithlike phantom trapped inside a lamp

I gambled my all, betting upon a thing which I could not yet see

DONE! I heard gently whispered upon the dissonant wind

Believing in that which I could not see

I stepped boldly to the perfidious, deceitful lovely lamp

Eyes closed, I eagerly stroked the duplicitous thing

An elegant spout appeared

A genie emerged from the lamp, wafting ethereal

Fragrant heathery smoke spiraled everywhere

Assaulting my sense of smell with utterly delicious flavors

The scamp was quite handsome, very stylishly adorned

He grinned from ear to ear, stretched his long lean limbs

He snapped his fingers, roared with laughter, gestured

Shazzam, alakazam!

And now.....

I have become, the genie of the lamp

Trapped inside forever

The mendacious, deceiving, lying, dissembling, dirty blackguard

Behaving so dishonorably and contemptibly

AHHHH! He played a trick on me

And now I may never be free

Unless....

May I grant you three wishes? Please!!!
