There’s one thing I know for sure

I know it

With every beat of my heart

With every cell of my brain

I know it

With the very fiber of my being

I am Who I am

No matter where I am

No matter what I am

I choose Who I am

I might not be able to have a job I love

I might not be able to buy the house I dream of living in

I might not be able to afford the car I want to drive

But if Who I am is a writer

Then regardless of life’s circumstances

I am a writer

If my computer won’t boot

My pens have no ink

I am still a writer

If I have to live in the back of my car

Write on grimy menus with broken crayons

I am still a writer

If I go blind

Can’t see the words on the paper in front of me

I am still a writer

If perchance I become a doctor

I’m going to be a miserable doctor

Because that’s not Who I Am

I am a writer

Never lose sight of Who you are

No matter Where you are

No matter What you are
