I Am
I am the Nigerian descendant of Kings, stripped of my ethnicity.
Seeking clarity of my ancestry.
On these genealogy sites trying to solve the puzzle of me.
Labeled as Negro, Colored, then the color became Black.
Under constant attack,
Please allow me to unpack,
MY SHIT!
To my sisters, like Sista, your sister can’t fly on one wing.
We are black Queens, raised by a black King.
The man who always let us know.
Fatherhood isn’t just about how our DNA flows.
It’s about being present and helping your child grow.
Know Daddy loves you and is there, through rain, sleet, maybe not that white ass snow.
And don’t be out here in these streets, being no hoe!
AND SHIT!
I am the lesbian stud, who finds it hard to pledge allegiance to the American red, white, and blue flag.
When they call me queer, lesbo, and fag.
Oh, I’m the thug for smoking my green rolled up in these sticks & zig zags.
Yet you insurrect on the US Capitol, flashing your badges, while waving your red, white, and blue confederate flags.
Now ain’t that some SHIT!
To my wife, it’s an honor and a privilege to ride your rainbow ride.
Let me rock each color with PRIDE!
Violet: May I always express my deepest gratitude.
I pledge my love and exactitude.
Indigo: Praying for love, peace, and harmony.
You represent God’s Artistry.
Green: Because you are my serenity.
Yellow: Lets seek positive energy & sexual vitality.
Orange: Helps us remember friendship has healing energy.
Red: Means wife and wife for life, baby let’s explore the power of sexuality.
AND SHIT!
I am the above the knee leg amputee.
That rolls around backwards to get to where I need to be.
Trying not to let this disability, disable me.
My life has become about accessibility.
Roc don’t get lost in a deep blue sea of emotions.
Roc stay away from the suicide potion.
Whom does your devotion belong too?
God resides within you. Healing starts with you.
To thyself and your circumstances remain true.
To the able body, yet feeble mind.
Please stop parking where you see the blue and white handicapped signs.
Stop acting blind.
Like you didn’t see that SHIT.
I am discriminated against for my Ethnicity,
Sexuality,
Disability,
& Morbid Obesity
That’s 1, 2, 3, 4 strikes against me.
They still can’t steal my creativity.
Call me weak.
Or stop me from reaching my highest peak.
When it’s God, knowledge and love I seek.
I am Roc.
My life of color makes me unique.
