Make it easy on us
Nod your head and stay quiet
Make it easy on us
Fake a smile
Tell us all the good things
And maybe we’ll stay awhile
With their buttoned up shirt
And constricted breath
Their combed over hair
And prozac
Make it easy on us
They said.
My whole life searching for the meaning of my name
Trying to fit in,
in some sort of way
Cuz god damn,
Seems like they got it hard enough
I’d love to make it easy on them,
Swim in their delusional dreams
And save their souls
One
Lie
At a time
But my searching lead me to believe
That it wasn’t lies they needed
But a voice that howled
A voice that sang her sweet soul song
Feet that roamed,
Searching for the meaning
A meaning that became so strong
Silence could still speak.
So I did.
I listened to the wind
I listened to the water,
The trees,
The stars.
They taught me about being
I stopped listening to the lost souls crying for sanction
In their easy answers
And empty eyes
And I decided to follow
The beat of my own drum,
And show them
What it really means to move
Like a song
To dance with the wind
And really fucking live
Its easy I said,
But it doesn’t come from a book you’ve read.
I understand,
My radical self expression
Fucks with your head
Its not always easy to understand
Because it pushes up against the idea
That
We
All
Have
To
Agree
Nobody is like you
And nobody is like me
Finding magic
In the way we breath
Moving like a song,
A song,
That only I can sing.
I am free
So you can be.
