Created for freedom and originality
The virtues history could not take from me
Although I am colored in different shades
My heart and soul remain unstained.
I am Black
That different kind of different
Yet not deserving to be treated different
My mind is not corrupted
Nor is my journey melancholic
I am Black
A soul with classic simplicity
My skin is a mark of identity
But not a predictor of personality
There is more to my essence when you get to know me
I am Black
My color, my pride
My resilience, my strides
Warm and complementary, I will adapt to your spectrum
Because I'm distinctively undefinedI
I am Black
