I Am a Rocket

To fly to space

They take me to the launch pad,

I have a rendezvous you see.

There is a payload they need bad.

I have a place I need to be.

Twenty-five thousand miles an hour,

to escape the Earths surly bonds.

It takes a huge amount of power,

to get into space and beyond.

All of my engines they must light,

to achieve the calculated thrust.

Against gravity I must fight.

It is outer space or bust.

The clock counts down to the time,

for us all to be inspired.

When all the engineers say it is fine,

then they light the fire.

For a second or two they hold me down,

so my power will come to full might.

When I break loose from the ground,

I am such an awesome sight.

A monstrous sound will echo for miles.

The earth I am known to shake.

I won’t return for quite awhile,

so I must fly high to meet my fate

You know I’ll do what is needed,

to get my payload into space.

A new step up for man has succeeded,

to reach out to touch God’s face.
