I Am A Fish

A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Looking beyond the glass is hard when it's all foggy.

I hear the laughter from outside, but can't see.

Is it real?

Or perhaps it is my imagination running wild.

I can almost catch glimpses of the figure standing there,

beyond the fog and beyond the distracting coral in my way,

there's a girl and she is laughing,

but it doesn't seem like she is in a bowl herself.

She is on the outside and she is free.

I see her approaching my bowl slowly,

she lifts up her hand and wipes away the dirt and fog on my bowl.

She is me.

She smiles at me.

I see her bring her hand into the water to bring me up,

"One day, you will be me and it'll all make sense" she says.

She puts me back in the bowl and walks away.

I have never felt more comfort,

and I wait till the day where I am no longer in my bowl,

I will wait until I am no longer the fish.

Oh, a very heartfelt song. Really sad, but what can we do!
