Hush Little Baby
Silence

She rocked me gently, singing “hush little baby,”
In her syrupy-sweet version of the song.
Little though I was, I can still hear that comforting hum.
Ebbing and flowing, swaying in her rhythmic arms…
Now, no sound echos in this empty house. No sound
Can be heard as we lay you in the ground. No sound will
Ever replace - ever contain the grace - of your song, mom.
