Hush

The moment before

Hush; be still within the noise.

Half a breath and you’ll understand.

We stare out into the ocean, watching for the horizon as it meets the sky-

What we’ll never understand is the line.

We’re adults, but we’re no better than we were in our youth,

Trying to establish even footing jumping on a trampoline.

Hush; keep holding your breath against the noise,

You’re all the way in now, there’s no turning back

You can’t cut against the grain.

He asked you a question,

Has it come down to this?

Between the past and the unknown future- the joker cries for our pretty backward smiles.

Digress, these aren’t wishes hidden under feathers as we dream,

These are choices,

A cross road where lines, jabs, and scrawles splashed upon a page offer as much wisdom as the ocean upon a beach of sand.

Swirl the liquid devil in your glass; a whole world of possibilities in your hand.

He asked you a question; Down the hatch and out through your lips-

Breathe out,

Surely your words will form a plan.
