Heart beats race like hart's hooves
A clattering of karatin shoes
Raining from a skull-cap grooved
Desperately, I hunt for clues
A past redressed in red and blue
π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦
Face scribbled out
Smeared bit of schmutz
Jumbled voices like adults
Above frame in Peanuts
I leap from a blind
Moments shattered
Slivers fogged with
My dying sigh
Scattered remains
The truth, a puzzle
Pieces pilfered by
Fingers, sticky, and light
Crimson reflections
Paint my savage face
Teeth bared, muscles tight
π§©π§©π§©π§©π§©π§©
Deciphering body language
In my dreams
Micro-expressions
Monitored in the mirror
Cracked and fogging
Lens flares at every
Revelatory reveal
Blinding my heart
Deafening my ears
Bathing me in blue light
β¨β¨β¨β¨β¨β¨
Images flipping out of order
I attempt to match them
The board grows larger
Hundreds added at every
Stage of actualization
Each correct pair only adds
Length to the winding trail
I follow every string, unraveling
Wrapping red and blue lines
Round pegs in a board of
My own making
β°β°β°β°β°β°β°
Eyes sharp
Heart ruthlessly prepared
With each new discovery
I slaughter without
Further deliberation
What took years to stalk
Across time and space
I won't let violently overtake me now
I am the huntress, my quarry
Mementos, proof of the
Nightmare I endured
Chained in place
Every link a steely lie
ππβοΈβπ₯ππ
Now I stuff and sew
These recollections I've bagged
Mount them to my profile
Like stuffed boar or stag
Still lifelike
Vermilion tusks and azure antlers
Gleaming in the gentle light of
The present day
Unable to terrorize or stab
More peasants or prey

KB, I love what you did with this challenge prompt! A lot of depth here, and the imagery was nothing short of amazingβ£
What a fierce and visceral journey through memory and trauma! I love the layered wordplay, "hart's hooves" and "heart beats," and how you weave hunting imagery throughout with such intensity. The way the puzzle keeps growing, "Hundreds added at every / Stage of actualization," perfectly captures how healing isn't linear, how each answer reveals more questions.
