Humans think they are better
We think we are the best are we ?

Humans think they are better
Why do we move through the world,
as though it belongs only to us.
Crowns imagined on our heads,
while other eyes watch with quiet knowing.
The dolphin carries stories in sound.
The raven unlocks puzzles with ease.
The elephant keeps memory alive.
The wolf listens to the heartbeat of the pack.
Yet we call ourselves the masters,
rulers of land and sky,
while breaking what we cannot repair,
blind to the wisdom beside us.
Ants raise empires beneath our feet.
Bees draw maps through air and sunlight.
Still we declare ourselves higher,
forgetting the patience of their labor.
Perfection is a myth we tell ourselves,
a fragile mask,
that slips when the mirror clears.
The wild does not need our approval.
Its truths are older, deeper,
lessons written in clawprint and tide,
in wind and in silence.
We are not alone.
We have never been alone.
And it is time we remembered.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

very true words, Marie and well spoken. I had to smile at your image because I am not sure if the animal on the left is cow a mutant elephant or a cross - a cowiphant 😉
