In a Distracted and Lost Generation

To they that loathe their dreams to be below the stars

Speak to your soul and It will show you what you are

Pinch your cheek while you see the world’s grandest scheme

Finally realize that you grow with what you believe

Everything around you is exalted

The world has thought your thoughts

People have conquered your dreams

But who are you?

You are between the thought and the idea

Never seeking a step to engage

Wondering in the glory of those before

Entitling your mind to worldly things

The beauty of the world’s extremes

Bears you a resentful longing

Coated by a precious plated knowing

That this is it

What is life if we aren’t great?

The world tells us that we aren’t mistakes

Only if we are special

Kindling the man’s torch eternal flame

This is the original sin created by humanity

That we abandon what it means to be human

Destroying our own lives

To discover what it means to be alive

But if you believe

Accepting all that you lack

Embracing the mediocrity the world says is bad

Your choices can still be reprieved
