Human Nature

Seek while feeling big, hide while feeling small

When all is said and done,

a human is often a puppet

of their own ego.

Lived four decades of life,

observed enough,

have studied human psyche,

and now I do not doubt

my interpretation.

When people feel good about themselves,

feeling big, they take initiative,

they want to invite; they want to visit.

But when they feel unsure of themselves,

feeling small, refusing to admit,

they hide and give excuses.

That's how it is,

with little regard for the situation of others.

they want it as per

own station in life.

We must show empathy, kindness,

and learn to draw boundaries,

for we are human too,

with a tendency of committing

the same old mistakes.

It is fascinating how the polarization of the human psyche can either push one to take initiative or to make excuses. This poem is held together by a strong Antithesis, which rings undeniably true. We often expect something darker from those who feel unsure of themselves, yet you pivot beautifully toward empathy and kindness. Fantastic work, Seema. 🤗🌼
