How to Disappear in Three Easy Steps

A guide in excellence for disappearing

Prerequisites

• A feeling of negligence

• Biomaterials

• Serial reticence

Step 1: Gather Materials

First, you're going to need a room

Forget the wood or nails

You're going to need your entrails

To ignore your wails, just in & exhale.

The goal is for your insides to trail

Just behind you, while you carve

a cavity in the small tooth of your mind.

Go up your mouth till the guts intertwine

Like floorboards, your airways will whine.

Step 2: Build and refine

Once you have a space so small, break out the drill.

Drill till the sound suffocates the thought:

Maybe I’m distraught.

Pull the entrails. You need those vocal cords taut.

Take a break, pace yourself; if you collapse, this is all for naught.

Check out your eyes, make sure they still don't see

Give a slight nod or a smile,

cry or beguile

Do what you must. They cannot know.

Step 3: Forgo

Once you're done, be absorbed.

Settle into the walls and into the floor

If you can hear them, you must ignore

Don’t worry, they won’t explore through the floorboards.

Now, next time anyone comes looking

No one will find you.

They’ll chat and smile, to your room, never you

If done properly, everyone will presume

that you are and have always been this tomb.

Congratulations, you have disappeared.

If you wish to come back, say you're not okay.

Oh, wait, you can’t.

Not with that slant,

Not with the materials for doing so being scant.

There probably should have been a disclaimer.

You planted the foundation on the very cords you need

Choked on your guts till your gums and thoughts bled.

Don’t look at me with that dread.

You’re the one who made a tomb for your head.
