How does it feel
To have the brightest smile
But the least attention?
The loudest, highest, happiest laugh -
But not a single echoing smile?
I couldn't say how it feels,
To think about the world so boldly
Without anyone to talk to.
I'll remind you of how it feels
To speak words of wasted voice
Just so someone, anyone can hear them.
It is a brutal everyday beating
Where their words mean nothing
Kindness,
Community,
Love.
Unconditional kindness,
A welcoming community
Life lived with love.
Oh, I'll say it once more,
How does it feel
To have no one
To be bitten back by the dogs you thought wouldn't hunt you?
To watch their voices turn away from you
Their eyes flutter in disgust at you
Your inhuman, aching heart
Bleeding for attention only.
Ingenuine words,
And greedy love
Unwelcomed strangers
And judging eyes
How does it feel to look at them and see what I see?
