House Fire/ I Sit Outside

Thinking of my dad

By Dusti WestPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I sat outside,

Watching my neighbor's house

Burn down.

I was excited to call you

When I woke up the next morning.

I knew you'd be asleep right now.

I would tell you all

About the bangs

And pops.

Plumes of scarlet

Rising over the

Dark treetops.

I couldn't call you,

Now our later.

It makes me so sad.

I am reminded that you

Are with me

All of the time.

You are watching

the house burn down

with me.

I miss you, dad.

I Sit Outside

I sit outside on

Days that look nice.

Without the wind,

It looks like

A warm day.

It's a beautiful walking day.

Birds ringing,

Squirrels chattering.

Trees not yet blooming,

But it's close. Grass,

Both bibrant, lush green

Newley sprouted comes

Around leaves still brown and abundant.

It's cold but that's

Okay.

It makes me feel with you.
