HOPE bye Eva Ysbeck (Originally written Spring of 2009)

Amongst

The Mississippi burning, oh this was daring

That had so much of us seem as if we were to be caring

And then some who was just on the urge of turning

There was hope...

Amongst

Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King, and Rosa Parks

Amongst temptation, the violence over segregation

Which had America needing rehabilitation

There was hope...

Amongst

The fallen economy, which at times can be seen as a burning tree

There was hope-hope to cut taxes, so the economy can repel from its burning ashes

Planning to create new jobs so then us Citizens can nod... nod meaning YES!! Yes we can amount to anything as long as we do our very best...

Amongst

The many people that are in prison

Who can’t find anyone to listen

They’ve been turned blind

At times leading a life of crime

They have then given up on the fight and at times even then there life

For many young adults dropping out of school because they see themselves no more than fools not knowing there is a change bound to come soon

There was hope...

Reforming No Child Left Behind

Because every child is one of a kind

Every teacher getting paid more for education

For they are our core for our sensation and representation

Amongst

The men getting a higher pay as if they’re all great

At times causing women to use themselves as bait, enough to drive you insane

There was hope...

Hope for equal pay for work because we too can be seen as doing the dirty work

Amongst The confusion

There was hope...hope for resolution

Let’s all as a nation cut the drama

For now we have a president by the name of Barack Obama

This here has gone around the globe only because we knew... we knew

There was hope

When it’s all said and done

If we know not one thing

We know it’s not finish

So let’s not all diminish and apply to ourselves
