Hope for a Glimmer

for the glimmerless

Hope for a Glimmer

Once upon a time,

I had a glimmer in my heart.

A little glowing friendship seed

For making friendships start.

But my glimmer was not mine to keep,

The way we’re s’posed to live

Is give a glimmer, get a glimmer.

Get a glimmer, give.

One day I met a someone,

And I saw their heart was true.

They really liked my glimmer,

And I loved their glimmer too.

So I held my glimmer out to them,

But then to my dismay

They took my glimmer and their own,

And went their separate way.

My heart was dark thereafter,

So I could not chase or follow.

My empty life was glimmerless.

The ache was less than hollow.

At length there grew a sparkle

Of a glimmer, small to start

‘Til once again a glimmer

Glimmered brightly in my heart.

Before I give it out once more

This question is a must.

So speak the truth and answer

Can I trust you with my trust?
