Honey bees and Their Swam

A flight to a new life or to death

By Quynh NguyenPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

A honey bee has a honey stomach

So she can leave her hive

Spare the room for the younger

to chance through summer

When a bee leaves her home

She takes nothing

but a three day worth of honey

With others, she goes on an adventure

to look for a hollow trunk

wherein they build a hive

Sometimes they fail to find such a place

And they die on the fourth day

All is for the survival

of the younger bees who stay behind

Who will live through the summer

autumn and winter

Who will gather nectar

and make capsules of honey

Who would only keep enough for three days

for when it comes their time

to make the swarm

to a new hive, a new life

or to death, sometimes
