I followed your beacon

As you searched for me

My steps retraced

Muscle memory

Feet gripping the smooth

Open road, til I am no longer

Wandering alone

You embrace me

Warm, soft welcome

This ground gives way

So easily. Yet holds me firm

When I fall to my knees.

I unburden my heart

Of fears and doubts

And trust that you remember

Those days when I

Would sit with you for hours

Letting your grains slip

Through my tiny fingers

As I saw for the first time

The beauty of the sea.

So here I have returned

To see your darkest form

How is it that your virtue

Can be cleansed with every storm?

Your great expanse has

Spread far beyond my reach

Inky waters lapping

Towards a baron beach.

I find myself compelled

To wade into the deep

To let your love engulf me

Dissolving into sleep.

About the Creator

Alexandra Sheader

I like to root for the underdog, find the beauty in the weird. Introvert, observer, people watcher, thinker and all round quiet person. But I still have a voice and a unique point of view. Life experience has given me the toughest armour.
