Home Sweet Devastation

Depleting forests and dying dear animals,

Floating plastic pieces are not so minimal,

Degrading corals in diffused industrial oil,

Man-made forest fires keep eroding the topsoil.

Oh, human, what have you done?

Home sweet home, she was,

Home sweet devastation, she is.

Suffocating lungs and burning beautiful eyes,

Intensifying smog that penetrates all our insides,

Smoke from the sea of cars and chimneys so high,

Starving poor trees with insufficient sunlight from the sky.

Oh, human, what have you done?

Precious and green, she was,

Perilous and perishable, she is.

You bred like rats back in the distant past,

You needed manpower, so you were fast,

You’ve bred enough now, she’s bleeding,

It’s high time you ceased copulating for populating.

Oh, human, what have you done?

Giving and generous, she was,

Saddened and burdened, she is.

................

There’s enough only for all your needs,

You can’t exploit her for your capitalistic greeds,

You are made from her, she’s your primal source,

You will disintegrate into her entirely in due course.

Oh, human, why don’t you realize your meager worth?

Forgiving and kind, she was,

Destructive and outraged, she is.

Your sons and grandsons get what is left

Of her after your unforgivably brutal theft,

No generation before did what you’re doing to her,

Your girls’ and their girls’ futures are a bothersome blur.

Oh, human, what have you done?

Why did you turn so ruthless and full of hate,

You are soon going to face your ultimate fate.
