Home Is Where The Heart Is
Banal truth, but honest truth

Once upon a time
beyond seven mountains
beyond seven seas
there was a little girl named Catherine.
She used to dream
about foreign countries
to set her adult foot and someday
when she grew up
she took a flight
to the country
about which she knew a lot.
She collected music from there
alternative rock has always been
her favourite genre.
All the greatest writers also originated from there
with Shakespeare, Dickens, Wordsworth, and Pope
leading the way.
"Well, when I finally set my foot over there
I will call it HOME and let it be now."
She worked hard, could barely count the time
when she could rest, years on her feet;
worked like a thousand men
in a fragile female figure;
all this time she never had any doubts
where to turn in the worst of times
coming now and then
because England always hugged her, not letting to shed
more tears than necessary
and feel the stable ground underneath;
even if it’s only an island
it’s still of astonishing beauty
ranging from cliffs, castles, cathedrals, ancient ruins and theatres
lurking from every corner
of British heritage
pampered by every citizen like a child
and no wonder why we cherish it so much.
Mother Earth has been generous in this part of the land
giving us almost every type
of landscape,
like Scottish valleys and hills ,
water reservoirs, the sea
and a little bit of mystery
sufficiently nourished with plenty of rain,
but right after that
the sun always rises
because the winds favour many here
where cultures mingle like in New York I’m afraid
unfortunately, with crime to the same extent
as in our capital, which is sad.
"I wish to stay here forever," she thought
"I think my new soul has been born
in a generous and benevolent English soil
nurturing my goals.
It wasn’t always easy in the long eight years, yet
if I survived that long
I’m sure that I can confidently call this place my most beloved HOME. "
