A love story remembered.

By Lauren BarrettPublished 4 years ago 1 min read
‘Greenwood’ by Lauren B.

Remebered in our bodies

Flavors, smells, textures, sounds.

The special marble cake that mom makes for our birthdays. Filling and sweet.

A felt knowing. It lives in our muscles and bones. In the shared tears and joy, earth and cities, within us and around us.

How the lake plays with glimmers of sunlight and gently rocks the sky to sleep.

Worn in stone steps and delicate wrinkles that dance around my eyes. Each groove, curve, and dip holding the stories of me and the faces that came before.

The soft shells of our hearts, melt

Drop by drop, senses stir and settle, a satisfied comfort.

Turn your face to the sun, close your eyes, and remember,

this.
