A sonnet from Parents

By memoirs of A moustachePublished 4 years ago 2 min read

HOME

There stands, on a lot, built on a street

A four sided structure

Well maintained and neat

Children playing on the front lawn

Parents reclining on the front porch

Every morning, they all greet the new dawn

When dusk falls, on sleepy eyes

Its time to sleep, and dream of sugar plums and blue skies

One last story, from Dads imagination

One last kiss, from Mothers affirmation

Now the children, sleep soundly, in loves divination

Ready to greet all of tomorrows new and wonderful expressions

(15 years later)

Now as teenagers wandering and exploring new conceptions

The front porch light stay on till they need rest in the familiar habitation

Reminding them of the Compassionate and tender environment

A warm meal for nourishment

The sage advice from a gentle intelligence

The place to rest their hat

A structure they can always call HOME

(10 years later)

The Children are no longer children

They no longer reside in the same building

This four sided structure is now a 2 resident domicile

Quiet and calm

Well maintained and neat

The front lawn green and groomed

The front porch, we now sit on a and read, while we reminiscence

About the times our children played from dawn till dusk

The times they came home and made a fuss

Watching them create their life with friends

Discovering all that life has to offer them

And all the while, they had this place, this house

That stands, on a lot, built on a street

A four sided structure

Well maintained and neat

We built this place for them to grow

For us to show

Them how to create a place that stands, on a lot, built on a street

A four sided structure

And how to keep it well maintained and neat

We gave them advice, the knowledge to create a secure place

We blessed them and taught them

It's what resided inside that

Makes It HOME

inspirational
