I found my home in a music note
I can’t tell you the exact day or note
Or song that made a home in my heart
But I do know home is where the music is.
Something about the way the vibrations
Sync up with my own vibrational frequency
To make a safe space -
A space where music is not only heard but experienced
From beginning to end
each song consumes me
For what feels like a lifetime
and boils down to 3-5 minutes.
It’s the bridge
The chorus
The hook
And the verses all at once
Sometimes it’s simply just the beat
And how it fills the silence between
Each pump in my own heart.
No words trying to tell me how or what to feel
Just notes giving me time and space
to feel.
Right at home exactly as I do
When my new favorite song comes on
There’s something in the music that takes me
To a sacred place -
The place I go to return to me,
Where I feel the most like myself
Even when I seem unrecognizable
While holding a mirror
The music is always there to remind me
Of who I am.
Who I desire to be,
Where I’ve gone,
Where I’m going,
And most importantly where I live.
A place where I have always lived
And funny enough there is no real address
Because the music is everywhere and nowhere
All at the same time.
The sound waves coming and going,
Crashing and smoothing,
Dictating the mood I’m in,
Calming me down,
Hyping me up and breaking me down,
Filling me right back up again.
I have no claim on her
Because she won’t stay in one place too long
But she still feels like home to me
Even while in constant motion
My heart stands still
And my life stands free
With the music in me
I am at peace.
Home is where the music is
So I guess I am home
Whenever I'm listening
And home is here
On repeat
On shuffle
On a playlist
In an album
In a single
In an EP
created just for me.
