Holiday Reflections

Welcome home!

By Barbara Gode WilesPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Christmas is upon us and our families celebrate.

Will my brother be home from the war? I hope it’s not too late.

Shopping has been done and the tree is all in place.

Bright lights and decorations learn to share their space.

Five brothers and sisters when there should be six.

Getting him home from Viet Nam is not an easy fix.

Christmas Eve is here and the family is so sad.

Brother didn’t make it home as we wish he had.

The war has left me blue but I’m very good today.

At midnight, Peter walks through the door and makes our holiday.

Welcome home, big brother!
