Holiday for Two

Finding peace where you are

Clip from author

Back from Midnight Mass,

blessings reflected,

O Holy Night sung.

Dishes are washed,

Presents all wrapped;

The stockings are hung.

Tree lights are on,

Coffee pot’s prepped,

In the window hangs Peace.

I pray that it’s true

As we sang last night

That oppression will cease.

Morning: Presents opened

Papers gathered

Breakfast done.

Facebook smiles

Families far away

Their social reflects their fun.

This year was better

Remembering what we have

Not what we’ve lost.

Past decisions made

To survive

Without weighing the cost.

But- my heart-

If not anticipated

It’s what we’ve got.

Two means not alone

It’s being seen.

Together is peace hard-bought.

  • Tender poem reflecting bitter and sweet times at Christmas... "Facebook smiles Families far away Their social reflects their fun. This year was better Remembering what we have." Something to be said for "Counting our Blessings."

Two, one, ten, we can bring kindness whatever the number.

  • To be seen is a marvelous thing.

  • Well done; love when a poem lets the reader fill in some of the gaps, and the sparseness here does just that. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
