The Almost Break-Up

As the two humans held each other with tears in their eyes

Both were too choked up to release their words from the depths of their throat

They heard a knock on the door, and they turned and saw another pair of eyes

They were peeking through the glass, seemingly full of hope

The door broke, as the glass fell

The mood went to "oh no," no longer "oh well"

The man took a step forward, the woman took a step back

A green creature walked in, its large feet on the placemat

She returned to her lover, breath trembling like before

This was supposed to be the last time, their love was nevermore

But now his hand felt warm, the same hand that was cold

And the creature came forward, no one knew what would unfold

The man looked at the woman, and she nodded at him

They were on the same page, like a symphony or a hymn

They reached their hand to touch the being

Its mouth growled like they'd never seen

But they did not tremble, they stayed very still

And as the being got closer, he couldn't help but feel

It grabbed the woman's hand,

and then the man's

And it felt, so very sad

It wanted to bite, it wanted to howl,

but then a smile, came abound,

not on one face, but on three,

the mood in the room, was so loving,

and so it was,

the alien was floating, like a dove

it had been introduced, to love
