History’s Tapestry—Teaches
Ekphrastic 50-word drabble based on Salvador Dali's The Face of War

The Face of War, 1941 by Salvador Dali - https://www.dalipaintings.com/the-face-of-war.jsp
Excuse after excuse. Recuse after blood-drenched recuse. Pardon after soul-raping pardon. When will it stop? When will erasure stop? How many bodies, how many lives must be wilfully, strategically, unjustifiably broken—ceased? Cyclical cynicism after catastrophic cyclical cynicism. Yet—humanity fails. Humanity fails—to learn. Learn the life-sacrificing lesson that history's treacherous tapestry—teaches.

It'd be nice if we as a whole learn, huh? Seems like a lot of us know but the rest don't wanna give it up. Bleh. Great drabble!
This is an example of art forcing us to see what we so desperately wish not to see! Both the selected painting and your drabble call our attention, however briefly, to the bloody pointlessness of war. Where exactly does anyone see glory in it? Well done, Paul!
A powerful and thought provoking drabble. Well done.
A very fitting ekphrastic musing that certainly pairs with the artwork in a powerful way!
So, so powerful and necessary. We might never learn fully, but I hope we can in part- at least for a generation or two at a time. Thank you for this profound insight, so eloquently expressed!
And even those who know history are doomed to repeat it.
I fear we will never learn.
God job and you give us a lot to think about with this one in particular.
I KNEW that had to be a Salvador Dali painting on the cover! Also, very dramatic and great poem!
A very fitting drabble to a very haunting picture. ❤️
