Your Life in Fragments

So much history here

The only life you have

Is one you hoped to lose

Blood is thicker than water

But the creek beds have run dry

-

A forgotten table

Wobbling side to side

The stain on the tile

Choking on the dust

Left to settle for too long

-

The school you pass every day

The same cracks in the sidewalk

Nothing ever changes in this town

Lets you breathe more easily

But makes you wonder why

-

You feel like crying

Remembering all who have left

Away from this city

Away from this plane of life

Not once looking back

-

Took a drive in the night

Windows rolled down

Radio blasting at full volume

Felt the wind scream in your ear

Shouting your name as you race by

-

A vortex of nostalgia

Drags you down the empty street

No one left to see

How much you have grown

sad poetry
