His Memory Goes On
A Brother, Son, Father, a Hero

His red shirt and blue pants neatly pressed.
Hundreds of people waiting in line.
Autopsy was done. Just a tragic accident.
His brother and sisters supporting Dad.
Dad, who was being forced to bury his eldest son.
Volunteer firefighter, town employee, son, brother, dad and father.
Gone way too young and much too violently.
Laid to rest the following day, among hundreds of people.
Then we left him there alone and went home.
Folded flag in hands, tears still falling.
Life so different now. His memory painfully lingers.

Barb is a young widow, having lost her husband and best friend at the age of 55. She is now devoted to her two daughters and her two beautiful granddaughters. Her dog is a constant companion.
