Hillbilly Dreamer

I Want to Be Just Like You

By Ginger GillenwaterPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Hillbilly dreamer, tell me where you're from.

The hills, the mountains? Where'd you get that gun?

You seem so relaxed, content and free.

You're not anxious, uptight, and stressed like me.

(I want to be just like you)

Hillbilly Dreamer, are you ever sad?

Are you ever worried, confused, or mad?

Tell me, Hillbilly, are you one of a kind?

Are you the only one that controls your mind?

(I want to be just like you)

Hillbilly Dreamer, you are your own person.

You push through even when things have worsened.

Tell me, Hillbilly, why couldn't I see

that the Hillbilly Dreamer in the mirror is me?
