Hiking Flashbacks

A Poetry Diary - 11/16/21

I cry just a little harder

With each step I take

Recompassing my ache

as the babbling brook

walks this trail with me.

Flashbacks of you throwing

shit across the room --

Too drunk to even be able

to remember tomorrow.

I wanted to stay in, order pizza --

and hold you in our living room.

You wanted to party, making me

drive you everywhere with

people who bring you sorrow.

But I was just someone who

showed you love && gave

you a free place to stay.

But you didn't listen to me

&& you used me everyday.

I grew to want things past

the old you. I need

More now...&& I know --

You'd never follow through.

&& I am done

With you.
