Hey! Give Me Some Attention!
Don't leave Nature on read. Please.

Helios peeks over the horizon, craving attention.
An oblivious teen in designer sneakers
sprints down the road, earbuds hooked to her phone.
A group of Floridians yelp irritably
when they witness the sunset at 4:31pm in NYC.
A brisk breeze whistles by, scoffing at their grimaces.
A crowded plane soars over the Rocky Mountains.
It’s early morning, so everyone keeps the window shades up.
Craggy peaks stare up in disappointment at the neglect.
Black clouds tumble across the cerulean sky
somersaulting over each other
in their eagerness to greet the cursing beachgoers.
Dense, muggy, sticky, fog descends like vanilla pudding,
spreading across the lake. It’s as if Nature is saying,
“If you don’t appreciate me, I won’t show myself.”
