it starts with the quill

hovering over the page

you hesitate

(drip)

so many things you want to tell him

you want to say to him

i’m sorry

i didn’t mean to

you hesitate

(drip)

speaking isn’t like writing

you can’t change what’s been said

can’t take it back

so you hesitate

(drip)

you rewrite it rewrite it

and scratch it out until the paper

rrr r r r r r i p s

(drip)

it’s ruined.

torn down the middle

and you can’t find the words.

you grab a fresh sheet of paper

you hesitate

(drip)

sad poetry

I like the repetition of 'drip', and the use of the strikeout.
