A poem on hope

Here’s hoping for a quiet place to shelter from life’s storms,

A haven, safe, in which I can take rest and just relax.

I’m hoping for the time to sit in a peaceful corner, warm,

with not a care, and no more fear of possible attacks.

***

Here’s hoping for a sudden win to make me feel secure

in my ability to meet the costs of daily life.

It doesn’t have to be a lot, just enough to be assured

I never will again be battered with financial strife.

***

Here’s hoping for a loving hand to smooth my weary brow,

To ease away all stresses and caress my care-worn face.

I wish that you and I could bask in that sweet moment now,

and hope ere long I’ll be with you, there warm in your embrace.
