here I am

another year alive

another year making it out

in this world

here I am

achieving everything I've ever

dreamt of having

here I am

being able to be who

I've always wanted to become

another year

of being alive

another year

without you by my side

of course you're proud

of all that I've accomplished

for myself

of course you are

you've always wanted

the best for myself

but here I am

breaking all these

milestones

without you

standing there

by my side

how am I ever

supposed to

feel like I made it

in life

if you aren't right there

by my side

smiling from ear to ear

as I achieve my next

accomplishment

not being able to

show you just how

far I've come

not being able to

look you in the eye

and tell you that

I've overcome the barriers

you put me through

I'll never get a chance

to do that

ever

I'll never be able to

hold you in my arms

my face pressed into your chest

your hand pressed against my back

as you spoke the words

"I'm so proud of you"

but

here I am

another year

accomplishing all that I've

wanted to accomplish

with just

the thought of you

in the back of my mind

knowing that I've made you

so damn proud of me

so damn impressed by

what I've managed to do
